Crafty Secrets August Challenge ~ Fairies

It's Crafty Secrets challenge time!

I went thru my alter box again for this challenge. I found this frame I'd bought a couple of years ago, I bought 2 or 3 on clearance at a gardening gift shop. They are painted shabby white so all I had to do was add the papers from the Crafty Secrets Creating with Vintage Patterns CD. Isn't this striped floral gorgeous?!

The sweet little girl in the frame is my granddaughter Sonny :)

I stamped the banner with a stamp from the new Crafty Secrets Born to Fly stamp set with Ranger Distress Black Soot ink on paper from the Vintage Patterns CD and cut the butterfly with my alterations butterfly die.
I made the flowers with more of the papers cut with my alterations Tattered Florals die and I cut some pink tulle with the die too.
I stamped the fairies and paper pieced them, cut them out and adhered them to the frame.

I added some tulle on her skirt and a piece of vintage crocheted lace for a belt. There is Martha glitter on the wings.

This is the pins I used to make the altered pins stuck in the flowers. Just glue on a button to the pin top, these pins are perfect to glue stuff on, you can get them at any sewing store, I got mine at Hobby Lobby. I added a Kaiser Rhinestone to the center of the vintage buttons. Just another way to use up buttons from my stash!

OH! Don't forget to post a comment on this post for a chance at my give-away! You'll have to scroll down quite a ways to comment, blogger is have fits again. I'll be announcing the winner tomorrow, 8-23!

Well that's it, now head on over to the other amazing designers blogs and be inspired!

Love You Mother ~ Crafty Secrets & Memphis

Good Monday morning!

Did you have a good weekend? We did, we went to Memphis for the Kings of Leon concert with my kids. Those guy's are amazing, they put on a great concert! We stayed at a hotel that was within walking distance of the FedEx Forum. So, we had to check out Beale Street, Holy Cow, everything I've heard about it is true, LOL! Blues at it's finest, bands playing everywhere, and people dancing in the streets.

My fave place was the Hard Rock Cafe. I've never been to one and I've always wanted to go. It was so cool, we had lunch there and took it all in.

Below are a few pic's I took. All I had was my phone for pic's, I left my camera in the room, pffft.

My brother was a huge Bob Dylan fan.There were guitars from different artists everywhere.Here we all are in a horse drawn buggy taking a tour of downtown Memphis. Left front around - hubs Terry, son Dustin, son in law Jason, me and daughter Crystal. Here are my twinseys, LOL, they wore the same shirt by accident, funny how men don't care! Can you imagine a few thousand people leaving this place after the concert walking to Beale St.? Party time, LOL!

On to my Crafty Secrets project for today! See that most adorable little girl?! It's me, LOL, I still have those little black shoes, mom gave them to me a few years ago. Yeah, it really is all about the shoes LOL!I love this new medium stamp set from Crafty Secrets, it's called Love You Mother. The silhouette is so pretty, I love silhouette stamps, so vintagey! Here's the set, the coupon is so cute, along with the bird and nest, you'll love it! I made this set for my mom for Mother's Day. I got the unfinished frame at Hobby Lobby. I painted the edges with Tim's Pink Sherbet & Snow Cap Paint Dabbers. I covered the frame with K & Co's Madeline Paper Pad, and stamped the silhouette on confetti cream paper with Ranger Distress Walnut Stain ink. I cut the ovals with Spellbinders classic oval & classic oval scalloped dies. I stamped the little dogwood blooms with the Walnut Stain ink, colored them with RV11 & Y21 Copic marker's and covered the centers with glitter. I stamped the banner with my CS Artsy Banner stamp set. Other supplies include - Kaiser Pearls, white seam binding, Distress Stains Antique Linen & Spun Sugar to dye the seam binding with, buttons, Martha bakers twine, stick pins, office supply tag, corner punch, blending tool.

Crafty Secrets December Design Team Challenge

Happy Monday!
It's Crafty Secrets Challenge time again, this month we are doing a calendar theme. I love making calendars and figuring out cute ones to make for friends & family.

I started off with a desk calendar using Vicki Chrismans 3D Shadow box kit from Crafty Secrets.

You can order them already cut and ready to start altering, FUN! (link below)
I used one of the frame pieces from the kit on the side and traced another one on some Crafty Secrets Radiant Paper Pad paper that matched, so I had the same windows on each side. I used my Artsy Banners stamp set to make the little 2011 banner, I stamped the script writing on the banner before I cut it out. The background is stamped with the new Floral Art stamp set. I cut out 2 images from the Calendar Creative Scraps with my circle cutter for the sides.
If you're like me you have Prima & Kaiser flowers running out your ears so I decided to use several to make my flowers. I colored each flower with my Copic R59 marker to match the patterned paper.
I printed out the 2011 calendar from the CS website, cool and vintagey, love it!

Supplies: Stamps - Floral Art, Artsy Banner, SU! mini alpha & numbers. Paper - tan & burgundy cardstock, CS Radiant Paper Pad. Ink - Ranger Distress Vintage Photo, Copic marker R59. Acces. -3D Shadow box frame kit, CS 2011 calendar download, Prima & Kaiser flowers & leaves, Kaiser Pearls, A Muse twinkle stickers, buttons, linen thread. Tools - Creative Memories circle cutter, blending tool, glue dots, Spellbinders Scalloped Rectangle (lg), Tim's Tiny Attacher.

Here is a calendar dress fridge magnet. I've made several of these, this one is all polka dotty.

I used Crafty Secrets Sweetchips Chipboard Little Girl Dress. I covered it with paper from the CS Radiant Paper Pad and I went through my stash for all things black and white polky dotty.
The calendar is one that you can pick up at banks, insurance offices etc.
I glued 3 magnets on the back with E6000 for extra hold. They look so cute stuck on your fridge!

Supplies: Paper - CS Radiant Paper Pad. Acces. - CS Sweetchips Chip Board Little Girl Dress, brads, ribbon, rick rack, calendar, magnets, clip, button. Tools - Spellbinders Scalloped Rectangle (lg), tracing wheel, Crop-a-dile.

My son & DIL got me this old window frame at a flea market. Krystle painted it and I added the pictures and the flowers. This is our family a long time ago, the kids senior pictures and the ol' standby picture of me and Terry.
I have it hanging in my craft/computer room above my computer, I love the shabbyness of it!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I hope you have a screaming good week, thanks for stopping by!

Crafty Secrets Sept. DT Challenge - Halloween

Good Morning!
It's Crafty Secrets designer time again.
This month we are doing Halloween with the new Halloween product. I'm using the new Halloween Greetings Creative Scraps and the Artsy Banner stamp set.
I got the unfinished shadow box frame at Hobby Lobby. I painted it with black Ranger Distress Crackle paint. I covered the inside and the spools with MME The Spiders Web paper. The little boy and girl and pumpkin were cut out from the Halloween greeting Creative Scraps. I cut the bat wings from black cardstock. I punched along the edge of the cardstock with my SU slit punch and then I cut out the wing shapes. I cut a moon from white cardstock and covered it with Ice Crystal Crafty Sparkles. I covered the diecut tree with Eyeliner Black Crafty Sparkles. The Prima flowers were colored with a purple atyou Spica glitter pen. The banner and scallop at the bottom were stamped with the Artsy Banner set and cut out.

I had a lot of fun making this shadow box!
You need to go and check out the other designers blogs, I know you'll be glad you did!

Crafty Secrets New Product DT Challenge

It's Crafty Secrets DT challenge time again!
This month we are focusing on new Crafty Secrets product, and believe me there's a bunch of new product!
I decided to alter this frame I got on clearance at Hobby Lobby. I used the new double sided Creative Scraps Birds & Blossoms to cover the frame and the wooden bird in the corner.

The sweet smiling faces are my granddaughters.

I used the new Dahlia stamp set to make my flower bouquet on the bottom right. I stamped the flower on patterned paper 6 times, cut them out and layered them, and then I gave them a good coat of Glimmer Mist. I used a small wooden flower pot, a half of a flower pot I picked up at a flea market. I painted it with Picket Fence Crackle Paint. I painted the inside edge of the frame next to the picture with the Crackle Paint too. It started flaking off, I really loved that look, but, it was flaking too much so I painted on some Mod Podge so it wouldn't flake completely off.

The center of the yellowish flower is a vintage earring. I took the clip off the back with my jewelry pliers and glued it on with E6000.
The wooden bird is from Hobby Lobby. I covered it with the Birds & Blossoms scraps and distressd it with Antique Linen ink.
Supplies: Stamps - CS Dahlia. Paper - Websters Pages Petite Papers Collection Pack Seaside Retreat, Garden Gals & Nature's Storybook. Ink - Ranger Distress Black Soot & Antique Linen. Acces. - frame, CS Creative Scraps Birds & Blossoms, wooden bird & flower pot, Ranger Distress Crackle Paint Picket Fence, Mod Podge, Glimmer Mist Iridescent Gold, rick rack, seam binding, buttons, vintage earring. Tools - paint brush.

Love Potion frame and a give away ~ Crafty Secrets

Good Morning!
Booooo-zeeeee, it's cold here, it was 25 this morning, ouch, that hurts!
We have been lucky on the last couple of snow storms, they are going north and south of us, YAY! Although, an insured told me yesterday, that the number of foggy mornings in Aug. determines the number of snow storms in Feb., if thats true we have one to go Smiley from millan.net
I have a lot to share today, so sit back and have yourself a cup of coffee or hot cocoa.
I'm showing you another one of Vicki Chrisman's 3D die frames I just finished. You can order them from Crafty Secrets now!
I saw the cutest flowers on my friend Michele Boyer's blog that she made from a tutorial here. I changed it up a little by using sheet music instead of patterned paper and I stapled all the layers together instead of using a brad and then I sprayed them with Glimmer Mist to give them the color. I really love how they look, I used my Martha punch for the leaves.
The sentiment says "There's a wild little women in each of us", heehee.
I stamped the bottle from the Message in a Bottle stamp set with Ranger Distress Vintage Photo ink and the No 9 with Black Soot. I painted on some Glossy Accents to make it look like glass. The frame background and cut out hearts are stamped with the Cupcake Party set. I didn't see it on the Shop-a-tron site, but, you can contact Sandy about it. Her contact info is on her blog.

Look at this fun image, this image and sentiment are from the Girlfriends Image & Journal Notes booklet.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now it's give away time!!
This is whats up for grabs, the Crafty Secrets medium Mouse Party stamp set, 2 Image & Journal Notes booklets, Childhood and Little Dolls and 6 rolls of American Crafts ribbon.
All you need to do is leave a comment and I'll let Random .org pick a winner on Monday March 1st. EASY PEASY!
Here's my cheesecake card I made with the Mouse Party stamp set. The images in the set are so cute!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Don't forget to comment so you have a chance to win!!
Have a warm day!
