Christmas garlands

I finished my garlands!
I've been enjoying the garlands I've been seeing on Pinterest and Instagram especially Christie Tomlinson's, she's the garland making queen! If you're on Instagram you really need to check her out!
I have a big pink McCoy planter on my desk that I use for a catch-all. Most of the stuff I used were extras I  already cut with dies or purchased and put in my planter.
It's always satisfying using up this and that in your work.
For this one I used burlap flags, a Tim Holtz tattered flower and pinecone greenery dies and a flower made from a tea stained coffee filter that I got at a flea market.
The flower and pinecones below are cut from the Tim Holtz Kraft Resist paper stash.
I made this one with the Tim Holtz snowflake rosette die and white cardstock, some glitter and buttons.
On this one I used Tim Holtz journaling tickets as the base - they're on sale right now :) pinecone and mini rosette dies, paper scraps, gesso, peeled paint Distress Stickles, Martha Stewart glitter and book paper punched with a scalloped circle punch and distressed with some Distress Gathered Twigs ink. and some mini pom-pom trim stapled on with my tiny attacher.
 I don't have a fireplace mantel, but, I do have a book shelf and I think it works!

Christmas ornament

I got the idea to use Tim's 8x8 Seasonal Paper Stash and Fragments to cover this cardboard ornament I got from Hobby Lobby.
First I painted the ornament with gesso
I glued the Fragments on the paper with Glossy Accents, cut around the Fragments and glued them on the ornament.
Next, I painted on the Glossy Accents with a paint brush between the Fragments and sprinkled silver glitter on.
I used my Tattered Pinecone die for the pinecones and greenery. I cut them out with paper from the Kraft Resist Paper Stash. I lightly sprayed them with Dylusions melted chocolate ink spray.
I used some of my vintage lace and tatting along with the pinecones and greenery to decorate the top. I adhered everything on top with my glue gun.

I took some close up pic's of each side outside in the natural light.

all is calm

I wanted to use my gingerbread man cookie cutters and this is what I ended up with.
I've had the cookie cutters for awhile, I got them at my fave flea market/antiques store to use in my journal.
I had fun with these pages, I always do though.
I used a lot of paint, paper and rub on's.
The house, tree trunk, gingerbread men and clouds are hand cut.
The snowman and tree top are punches.
The sentiments are lines from Christmas songs.

After I took the pic's I realized I didn't put on my eyelets. I didn't put them on my last journal pages either so I went back and did that. I keep forgetting those!

New Year art journal

Good Morning and Happy New Year!
Well, the hustle & bustle is over and we are going into the new year, it's going to be a good year!
We got snow on Christmas day, in the news it said it was the 1st time in 86 years for Little Rock, it was pretty exciting. We got around 6 or 7"and we were house bound. Yes, around here that's a lot of snow, we have mountains hills and sharp curves to maneuver any direction we go and it makes me a nervous wreck driving on it. It's all gone now and we're getting back to normal, yay!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today I'm showing you my altered journal cover. It's Dyan Reaveley's new journal - looks like Inspiration Emporium is out of stock right now, but, you can contact them and ask when they'll be in.
I started with painting the cover with gesso, when that was dry I used my Ranger Adirondack paint dabbers in red pepper, pink sherbet, aqua, snow cap, citrus, pitch black and metallic silver. I did the white out lining and doodling with my Gelly Roll white pen. I used my SU! splatter stamp for the black splatters and Dyan's stamps, the dylusions basic background, doodle parts and word love.
The circle outlines are made with a paint dabber lid tapped on the paint dabber to pick up the paint. The circles are made by stamping with the dabber itself on the journal.
That's it, I hope you like what you see. Just have fun with it, believe me, it's so easy!
I can't wait to get started on the inside!
Joyful
Hello friends!
I've got one more joyful project to show you.
It's packed full of Inspiration Emporium goodies!
I got out several Alterations dies and started cranking!
I used the Artful Dwellings for the houses,Chip block alpha for the word JOY and Vintage Lace for the white scallop along the bottom and the chimney top. I got out my Idea-ology Vintage Shabby paper stack and cut that along with the chipboard, actually, it's the back of a tablet. I used the Mini Blue Prints stamp set from the Tim Holtz Collection by Stampers Anonymous. I stamped an image for each house with poly sparkle embossing powder by Ranger, and VersaMark ink onto Distress Core-dinations cardstock. I  painted on the roofs with Clear Rock Candy Distress Crackle paint and sprinkled on diamond dust glitter. I wish you could see this in real life, it's all crackly and sparkly, so pretty.
 I added buttons from my stash with Glue Dots, colored a scallop and colored in the snowflake with my white Gelly Roll pen. I twisted a silver pipe cleaner and attached it to the back of the chimney for the smoke.
 I attached white seam binding across the back of each house so it would fold up and tie for gift giving.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm all ready for Christmas, I just have to shop for the food and wrap a couple of presents and I'm ready to go. We're supposed to have some stormy weather tonight, and maybe a snowflake or 2 by morning. We don't get much snow, not like we have in the past, whats up with that? I'd like to have 1 deep snow in the winter, just 1 ;)
I hope y'all have a very Merry Christmas, thanks for stopping by!

Toy Soldier

Happy hump day my friends.
Hope you're keeping warm, it's freezing here, blech!
Today I'm showing you the toy soldier tag I made into a candy cane holder.
I think these would make cute little gifts.
The first thing I did was heat emboss the toy soldier from Tim Holtz Collection Christmas Blueprint stamp set. I inked the stamp with VersaMark, poured on white embossing powder and heat set it. Next, I added Distress Festive Berries and Evergreen Bough ink with my blending tool. I wiped the white soldier a bit to remove the ink.
To make the water spots I sprayed water in my hand and flicked it onto the tag and dried it with my heat tool. I scored the tag, folded it and put on a piece of black cardstock that was die cut with Alterations Vintage Lace die on the front and wrapped it around to the back and adhered it.
I put red Kaiser Rhinestones on the lace and soldiers hat. I ran some white seam binding over the Evergreen Bough ink pad for matching ribbon.
Finally, I die cut the soldier with Alterations Toy Soldier die, using Coredinations cardstock.
Isn't he the cutest thing? I had to have him the minute I saw him!
I put him in the tag with foam dots.

Inspiration Emporium ~ Joy

Good morning friends!
Today I'm showing you my December project for Inspiration Emporium.
We can make anything as long as the word Joy is in it.
I decided to make a spoon Christmas tree ornament.
I used my metal punch stamps to stamp JOY at the top of the spoon.I wanted to put stuff in the bowl of the spoon. I wrote over the word with my black Copic and used the blender pen to clean up around the letters.
This is my punch set, a hammer and a this metal square, I can't for the life of me think of the name of it, ugh.
But, it's supper heavy.
Here's the ornament finished.
I used my new Alterations snowflake rosette die and white cardstock. I sprayed it with adhesive glue , I figued that would be way easier than trying to put glue on it. Then I poored glitter, and diamond dust glitter over it. I colored white seam binding with fired brick Distress Stain and tied it on the spoon handle.
I put some Glossy Accents on about half of the spoon and sprinkled on the glitter and added my Idea-ology fractured doll while it was still wet. I glued the wings on her first, I got them out of my stash, I picked them up somewhere. I colored my Idea-ology festive foilage poinstetta and leaves with my red pepper and citrus paint dabbers. I added the Kaiser Rhinestones on the edge.

Now it's your turn, make something JOYous and upload it to the Inspiration Emporium blog for your chance to win $$$ to spend in the store, fun, fun, fun!
Oh, use my code IEIRISGARDEN to get 10% off your order!

Dear Santa

Back again with more journal pages, surprised?
Not me, I can't seem to stop, I'm possessed. HA!
I broke out Dyan's new Christmas stamps and stencils.
The stamps I used are Dylusions Christmas Accessories, Christmas Words and Ruby Rainbow. I put the deer head from the accessories set onto the body from Ruby Rainbow, perfect match. Her stamps all work good together! I love the words set, so funny, love the attitude! I used a pencil eraser for the deers cheeks.
The stencils I used are 9x12 Let it Snow and 5x8 Oh Christmas Tree.
I used my Micron 08 black pen to trace the string of lights border with the Oh Christmas Tree stencil.
I colored the light border with fine tip water brushes filled with Dylusions inks cut grass and post box red. I need a couple more pens to fill with more colors. I made the light bulbs polkadot with my Gelly Roll white pen.
I used the Let it Snow stencil to traces my snowflakes with. I used my Gelly Roll 08 white pen and my Copic b21 pen. I added Kaiser blue rhinestones to the centers of the white snowflakes.

I made a a little Christmas tree with the pine bough stamps and stamped, cut and colored the ornaments. I colored them in places with my Stardust clear Gelly Roll pen for some sparkle, I wish you could see it better, it's so pretty.
The Archival inks I used for my stamping are jet black, coffee, olive and rose madder.
