Daisy

I bought the Daisy stamp at the scrapbook store in Conway when it was having it's going out of business sale :(
I've been wanting to use it and I finally did.


I stamped the image on kraft cardstock with Noir Black palette ink from Eclectic Paperie and colored it with my Copic markers, you can get those from Ellen here.
I really like coloring on SU!'s Kraft and Sahara Sand cardstock, the colors look so rich!

7 things about me...hmmmm...hope I can think of 7 new things, let's see.......

1. I love animals and hate to see them abused.
2. I love babies, did y'all know Bethie is having Siliaka #6 next week...so excited!
3. I had several box turtles as pets! Hubby built a pen in my backyard, they laid eggs, the babies were SO CUTE, itty bitty things. I let them go, got tired of cutting up worms for the babies, blech!
4. We had a baby deer someone found, she was tiny and spotted, her name was Iris Ü. We kept her until she started freaking out when we mowed the yard. A man came and got her that had a whole heard of them, I think she was happier.
5. I'm a HUGE Bare Escentuals & Philosophy junkie.
6. I love Asian food, especially when my sister-in-law makes her Korean specialties, YUMMAH!
7. 7 is my and HB's lucky number!

hair clips & pouches

I've been trying to keep myself busy while I'm waiting on my MONDO first new catty order from Stampin' Up! The wait is SO hard! I've had these little pouches made for a couple of weeks, so I thought I would photograph them and upload here just to share and keep me busy, LOL!

I was going to make a clipboard hair clip holder like I saw by Alecia Grimm in the Apr-May '05 issue of Paper Trends. Then, I got the idea of the little pouch. I've made bunches of these pouches, I got the directions from SU!'s Stampin' Success, June '06 issue, that demonstrator's get monthly. I'm still going to make the clipboard for Jayde and Jasmine though! Ü

The directions for the pouch say to use a 8 1/2 x 8 1/2 piece of cardstock, but I like to use double sided patterned paper. I made this one smaller using a piece of 4 x 4 double sided patterned paper. The pouch is made by folding, the only adhesive I use is on the front flap that's folded down.

You fold the piece of paper corner to corner to make a triangle and crease it with a bone folder. Fold the right point over to the middle of the left side, crease and fold the left point over to the middle of the right side and crease. Take one layer on top and fold it down, crease, add your adhesive under that and stick it down. I put punched flowers and buttons on the front. I used thin strips of paper and cardstock to thread the buttons and then I glued them on. The hair clips are made basically the same as the big clip/bookmarks, just don't put a flower on the back.

I think these would make cute little gifts for the girls in your life or as give aways for hostesses and/or guests, just use SU! punches for the hair clips instead of the Cuttlebug, dies and SU! doublesided paper of course Ü

Supplies: double sided paper from SU!, Basic Grey, Crafty Secrets and Making Memories. Hair clips from Wal-Mart, Cuttlebug and flower dies, chipboard coasters, buttons, ribbons, brads, 1/16" punch for the brads, tape adhesive and E6000.

car cup holder coasters

I made these to go in Lanawho's Christmas box last year.
I thought I would share them here.
They are car cup holder coasters, I got these at a gift shop
but you can get them just about anywhere. They have a
picture on one side and plain on the other.
I love mine, my cup holders were always sticky and yucky until I started using them.

I used Stazon Timber brown to stamp the flowers & leaves from SU!'s Bud Basics set and the speckles from Itty Bitty Backgrounds. I stamped the flowers & leaves on a post-it note cut it out and made a mask, laid that over the flower on the coaster and stamped the speckle stamp on the coaster. I used Sharpie markers to color in the flowers & leaves.

I hope y'all had a happy new catty ordering day today, I still haven't narrowed down my list, ACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

crafty support

I love the ultimate support lady image by Crafty Secrets. She's so pretty standing in front of the mirror on the wall with the vintage rose patterned wallpaper. There is just a touch of aqua blue here and there in the black and white image, so pretty. The vintage roses birthday image is beautiful too, they look like wild roses. The images are from the Heartwarming Vintage booklet, Wacky & Wonderful.

I used the Cuttlebug folder Textile on the aqua paper from Crafty Secrets Radiant paper pad and on the SU! Chocolate Chip cardstock on the birthday card. The flower and leaves are by Prima. The ribbon is by Martha Stewart. The buttons are from my mom's stash. I cut thin strips of cardstock and threaded them in the buttons, and attached them with a glue dot, much easier than a needle and thread!

I got the Crafty Secrets paper and images from Anna at Sassy & Sweet Crafts , the Cuttlebug folder from Joy & Daisy at Eclectic Paperie

I'm still waiting on my SU! catty........the anticipation is a killer I tell ya!

clothes-pin bag

I went to my daughter's in Conway a few weeks ago and I stopped at a junk shop I'd never been in before. There was an older gentleman puttering around inside. Stuff was stacked to the ceiling! Dust everywhere, you could tell they had been there forever, it was kinda creepy really, LOL! I could have stayed in there all day, after I told myself he wasn't an ax murderer, (snort) But, I was kinda in a hurry to see my babies Ü Anyway, I saw a door to another room and I asked him if there was stuff in there and he said "I'm afraid so", cracked me right up! That is where I found this old clothes-pin bag, the kind the ladies hung on the clothesline to hold their clothes-pins while they hung their laundry. I snatched it right up, brought it home, took the bag off and washed it. I decided I wanted to use the Crafty Secrets bird from the Homespun Cotton Scraps - Flowers. I ordered them from Anna at Sassy & Sweet Crafts and went to work. I sewed the buttons on the eyelet ruffle and I glued the ruffle to the top of the bag with Fabri-Tac. I sewed some more eyelet ruffle around the bird image, sewed the buttons on the corners and glued that on the front with the Fabri-Tac. Then, I sewed the buttons on the corners of the bag. I want to do something on the wire hanger, just haven't figured that out yet.







Here are the clothes-pins that were in the bag. The wood is worn smooth on them from many years of use. I wonder who the lady was that worked so hard hanging out her laundry? I wonder if she would approve of her bag now.

Another card with my SU! Baroque Motifs set. I wanted to do a black and white card with a little pink. I cut up the swirl background and pieced it back together, ugh, now I remember why I don't do this often. It's like a jigsaw puzzle, no, worse than a jigsaw puzzle!!




Look real close at the flower on the hanging tag, there is an ant on it. The big dummy, doesn't he no a real flower from a paper flower?! I took the pictures outside on the crossarms (crossarms are off high line poles, look up they are the boards that go across at the top of the poles) I didn't know the ant was there until I picked up the card. I decided he made a cute embellishment!

Father's Day

I made this for my hubby for Father's Day.
I used my new Baroque Motifs stamp set by SU!
I love the big swirly stamp in this set, so glad SU! has offered this one!

I tried to stay manly as best I could, it's always hard for me to do manly, but, I think this works using the browns and striped paper.

Supplies: CS - SU! Confetti Tan - retired, Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip, Certainly Celery, Urban Window Boho Chic note cards by We R Memory Keepers (I cut the card and used the pieces for the BG papers).
Stamps - SU! Baroque Motifs, Linen, Rough Edges Alpha.
Ink - SU! Certainly Celery, Chocolate Chip, Creamy Caramel classic pads and markers, Walnut ink by Ranger
Acces. - May Arts ribbon, Vintage brads, hanging charm, 5/8" circle and 1/16" punches, brass brad, Dimensionals, sponge, sewing machine, tan thread, cutter kit.

Vintage cards, the real thing!

Easter cards

My mom gave me these cards last weekend. They were sent to my uncle Troy "Orin" Branscum in the 40's, so they are at least 60 years old and are in perfect condition! I think they are beautiful for cards that are not hand made (grin) He was in WWII, a tank commander in the 2nd Armored Division and KIA on 1-3-45. I only wish I could have known him. My grandparents kept these all through the years, my mom got them and now I have them. Since cards are our thing, I was so happy to get these. The colors and design of that era are so pretty and I notice a lot of the same now in new vintage designs.

These are Valentine cards. The one on the far right has a sheet of thin foil laying inside, it shows through the cutout heart.

Here are the Christmas cards. The one on the top left with the soldier is one my uncle sent home to my grandparents.

Look at this one, it's so unusual, there's a greeting for every month of the year. I love the sponged look on this. Did they have creamy caramel in the 40's? :)

I hope you enjoyed the trek to the 40's in card design, I'm off to put these away, very carefully!

ribbon keeper

I got this CUTE Maya Road Coffee Break tin from Joy & Daisy at Eclectic Paperie. It's really a cute size and fun to work with. You can remove the handle to put your paper on!! Way cool!!!


I made this ribbon keeper with a tag ring for a friend. I made the tags from lightweight chipboard and the cutest images from Crafty Secrets Heartwarming Vintage Cuts - Friendship & Flowers and Heartwarming Vintage Booklets - Wacky & Wonderful. I covered the tin with Crafty Secrets Radiant patterned paper that I adhered with Mod Podge and painted a coat on the outside. I got the Crafty Secrets paper and images from Anna Wight's Sassy & Sweet Crafts.

After I put the paper on the tin, I marked with a pencil and my paper piecing template where I wanted the holes to be in the front. I took my Crop-a-Dile and punched the holes in the tin. I die cut some flowers with my Cuttlebug, punched holes in those and glued them over the holes in the tin, then I set the pink flower eyelets (SU! retired) in the holes with my Crop-a-Dile. I put loose ribbon inside and ran it through the holes. I put the pink rick rack on the lid rim with E6000. The black buttons were shank buttons, I snipped off the shanks with my small pliers and glued those on with E6000.

For the tags, I cut the chipboard and patterned paper the same size, adhered the paper to the chipboard, front and back and punched the corners with my ticket corner punch from SU! I cut out the images with my tiny scalloped scissors and adhered those on the tags. I set the oval eyelets (SU! retired) in the tags with my Crop-a-Dile. I glued on the ribbon and buttons with E6000. I told y'all I use that stuff ALL the time, LOL! I put the tags on a binder ring along with a key and clipped it on the tin handle.

I found this little shadow box frame at a thrift store for .50. It was pink with a little boat scene in it.

I painted it white and distressed it with walnut ink. I traced the frame on a piece of cardstock from the Basic Grey Pheobe 6 x 6 paper pad, cut it out and glued it on the front with Mod Podge. I sponged the edges with more walnut ink and put on 2 more coats of Mod Podge. I took the mat from the inside of the frame and traced it on a coordinating piece of paper, cut it out and adhered it to the mat. I took one of my fav pictures taken at the hospital. I printed it in black and white and adhered it to the back of the mat.

Now for the fun stuff :) I got out the trustee Cuttlebug and a few dies. The Floral Borders, Vintage and Paisley. I cuttled the Floral Borders in brown, adhered around the pic, added Prima flowers and Fruit Punch Stickles. I cuttled one of the Vintage dies with light weight chipboard and paper, put that in the top right corner of the picture and added a big green crystal brad. I cuttled the Paisley die with more chipboard and paper added Prima's, crystals, ribbon and a flower brad. I stuck that on the outside of the frame with E6000.

The two little darlin's are my granddaughter's. This pic was taken the day after Jasmine was born, she wasn't even 24 hrs. old yet, awwww, Jayde is a very proud big sister! Man I miss them, it's been a whole WEEK since I've seen them Ü

The crocheted piece in the background is a round table topper I made several years ago when I was big into crocheting, long before paper crafting!
