java queen & saturdays flea market finds

Smiley from millan.netGood Monday morning, I've had a few cuppa's and I'm
ready to share my Starbucks mug and a few of my flea market finds from the weekend.

I found the mug in my altering bin and decided I'd use the Java Queen from the new Domestic Goddess Creative Scraps by Crafty Secrets for the tag. I made the tag with the queen and I used the Coffee & Tea stamp set. The coffee twill was perfect with it. Sandy, owner of Crafty Secrets sent the twill a long time ago, I'm glad I kept up with it!! I used 2 tags here, the little one is attached to the big one and is off-set. I wrapped the twill around the mug and threaded it through the tags holes on the tags and tied a bow.

The mug, that's where my problems started, LOL! This is the first time I've altered one, I didn't realize there is no room for layers! I took out the insert guide and used it for a pattern, I traced it on some vintage sheet music, mistake #1. I cut out some scraps from the Garden Creative Scraps and adhered them to the sheet music, no way it would go in the mug. The sheet music was so thin I couldn't put any pressure on it to slip it down, it would tear.

Soooo, I decided I needed stronger paper, I used a piece of paper from a Crafty paper pad. I ripped my Garden scraps off the sheet music and stuck them on the paper, mistake #2, it was too thick to fit. I kept my cool, and ripped the Garden scraps off the paper. My final try was using the paper guide that came in the cup. I inked it up direct to paper with my Ranger Antique Linen pad. I stuck the scarps on again and it worked! It took some work but, I got it in the mug, phew, I was ready to give up! It was worth it though, it's so pretty with the vintage images inside!

I went to Quitman Saturday to a flea market and a shabby shop called Vintage Rose, I'll share some pic's of my finds there later. It was so cold, the wind was howling and there were snow flurries, ARG!!

I got this plate of goodies, a vintage necklace, a sweater connector thingy, rhinestone earrings a cross and medals.

These red canisters, YIPPEE, they'll go on my Hoosier.

A 1952 Look magazine, there is a corner torn off the bottom cover, so it was $1, the other ones were $5. There are some great pictures and stuff in it, perfect for paper crafting, if I can make myself tear it up.

Well, that was my weekend of crafting and junkin'. I hope you have a great day, thanks for looking!

I've got some more Easter Creative Scraps to share today, and, there are still images left on my sheet! Man, these sheets are jam packed full of vintage images, I've been having a blast with them! This time I made some soldered Easter ornaments. I cut my images from the sheet and soldered my ornaments added some pink ribbon and a couple of beads, done! The one on the left is a double ornament, the smaller one is hanging from the larger top one.
I learned to solder last year at Tex's house, several of us were there and when we did the soldering, there were a few choice words being said, LOL!! After the 2nd or 3rd time trying it, it's easy and fun! I think we have all gotten better at it, LOL!
Isn't this rabbit in the hat with the bird nest and eggs sweet?! It really caught my eye!
I added a couple of beads to the bottom of this one and some Prima's inside under the glass.

Supplies: Paper - Crafty Secrets Easter Creative Scraps, pink foil scrap. Acces. - pink ribbon,
beads, Prima flowers, copper tape, 2x2 & 1 1/2x1 1/2 Memory Glass pieces by Ranger, solder, flux, jump rings. Tools - soldering iron, Jewelers Extra Hands.

crafty creative scraps easter candy house

Good Monday morning! I'm ready to start the new week, it's going to warm back up this week, YAY!! We've experienced all 4 seasons in the last 2 weeks, unbelievable! I'm ready for 1 season,Smiley from millan.net

Easter is just around the corner, the stores have isles of candy and pretty pastel colors! I love walking the isles and just taking it all in!
I made an Easter candy house using the new Crafty Secrets Easter Creative Scraps and the Sweet Chips Chipboard Little Folding House! I can't get enough of these sweet images, I used them on all 4 sides.
There is a front and back and 2 little chickies peeking out of the windows on each side. I glued the house on a chipboard coaster and covered it with glitter.
I made the shingles on the roof with my SU! scalloped punch. I punched scalloped circles out of scraps from my CS Pastel Paper Pad and cut each one in half and I applied them starting at the bottom of the roof, going up. There are 4 rows with 3 half scallops in each row on each side of the roof. I adhered them with my atg gun along the top edge of each scallop so I could curl the shingles up a little for dimension. I sprayed the roof with Pearl Glimmer Mist before I added the rick rack, it shimmers so pretty!
I bought these cute little pink chicks at Michaels, there were a bunch in a little box. I covered the eggs with Martha Stewart glitter.
The pink handle on the roof is a wooden ball that I painted with pink Making Memories paint. Terry got involved with this project, he drilled a hole throught the ball so I could attach it through the roof of the house. I used a silver pipe cleaner, I threaded it through a button and put it on top of the ball and threaded it down through the roof and twisted it to keep it in place. I punched a Martha butterfly and attached it with the silver pipe cleaner that I wound around a pencil for the spiral.
Take the roof off and enjoy the little malted eggs, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
Supplies: Paper - Crafty Secrets Easter Creative Scraps, Pastel Paper Pad. Acces. - Sweet Chips Chipboard Little Folding House, chipboard coaster, pink rick rack, pink trim, Pearl Glimmer Mist, Martha Stewart Green Agate, Tourmaline & Turquoise glitter, Martha Stewart baking twine, buttons, eggs, Colorbok Metal Dots, Glossy Accents, wooden ball, pink Making Memories paint, silver tinsel pipe cleaner. Tools - SU! 1 3/8" and scalloped circle punches, Martha Stewart Butterfly punch, scalloped scissors.
I hope you enjoy your Monday, thanks for stopping by!

I went on a little adventure a couple of weeks ago. There is some land by where my daughter lives that is leased for hunting. It has this very old abandoned house on it. Me and my daughter decided we would go and see the house, we were told about it and wanted to check it out. The house was left with stuff in it. I have always loved this kind of thing. Whenever I had a chance to go through an old house like this I jumped at it!!
One of the front doors was wide open....ACK, I love it, LOL!! We went in and it was really dirty, musty and creepy no telling what kinds of wild animals had been in and out of there. There were beds couches, kitchen table and chairs, wood stove, fridge, everything, but nothing was usuable anymore. I love to imagine who the people were and how they lived in this old house. There was stuff everywhere, it's getting a little too warm to be digging around much, I was afraid I would wake up a snake or 2 or 3, YIKES!! This little log building was behind the house. I think it must have been a smoke house where they smoked their meats, it was too small for anything else.
This was in the front to the side of the yard. It's a dug out storm cellar, dirt floor, I could see an old chair in it turned over. For those of you who don't know what a storm cellar is, it's where you go when a tornado or bad storm is coming, to be safe. This was as far as I got here, no way I was venturing down in there, nope, no way LOL!
I picked up a few things around, to me they are treasures, to someone else...not so much, LOL!
They needed a lot cleaning and bleaching, but, now they sparkle! The poor Cupie doll was dirt-y!! I couldn't take her clothes off, they were sewn on, so I just threw the doll in the washer with bleach, now she's like new, she's in an old snuff glass. Look at the Bingo cards, red, WOOHOO, I'll have to make some Lisa Z ornaments!! The green Jadite bowl has a hairline crack in it, so no eating cereal out of it, but, it's perfect for buttons!
I hope your Thursday is a good one, thanks for stopping by!
