cuppie calendar & vintage playing cards

I got my cuppie calendar supplies in the mail from taylored expressions! I had so much fun looking at all the goodies in the box. You can go see what you get at Taylor's store to make the calendar, everything you need, stamps, calendar pages, page protectors, and stand. I plan on showing you a page for every month this year, it will be fun to make these, the cuppies are SO cute!

The stand comes unfinished, so you can decorate it how you want. I spray painted mine with white paint. I tied this yummy ribbon on (it's 1 1/2" wide, so pretty) and added the paper flowers to the top. I paper pieced the cuppie, I'll do that with them all. I attached the main image with 2 foam dots, when the year is over I can take the images off easily and make cards.

Supplies: Stamps - taylored expressions A Year of Sweets 1, Paper Trey Butterfly Kisses (flower), Crafty Secrets Altered Art ({ }). Paper - 2009 calendar pages, blue & white card stock, Memory Box Holiday Greetings patterned paper. Ink - Ranger Distress Black Soot, Copics, atyou Spica glitter pens, SU! Night of Navy & Bashful Blue Classic ink. Tools - Nestie scalloped square, Martha Stewart punch.

I was flea marketing a couple of weeks ago, imagine that *snort* and I spotted this little cigar box, it was little bitty, I've never seen one like this, so I picked it and opened it. These old playing cards were inside, SCORE!

They look like they have been well loved!

I love the backs of the cards, great designs and the images on the cards are so fun and vintagy!

Look at these, Scary Harry and Corny Carl crack me up!

I can't figure out what this deck is, maybe a match game of some kind?

Here's another Old Maid deck, they are nursery rhymes.

I don't know if this Rook deck is really old, but, I love the crow holding the cards in his foot.
I hope to use these in some altered art, I just need to figure out how I want to use them, any suggestions???
We are supposed to have some icy weather the next couple of days, YUCK! Hopefully our power stays on!
I hope your day is warm and ice free, thanks for stopping by!

cookie monster!

Smiley from millan.net Good Monday morning,

I'm so happy to be home today! I'll be busy packing up samples and getting them ready to mail and doing some purging in my bathroom, cleaning drawers shelves and replacing the shelf paper, oh joy.

I finally got to play with my new Sweet Stuff set by Crafty Secrets. I adore this set! It's all about baking, the cute vintage images are perfect, you have to check it out!
The stamp behind the cookie monster was a frame with the sentiment inside, Sugar & Spice and Everything Nice. I cut out the sentiment Smiley from millan.net with my cutting blade so I could put anything inside the frame. I stamped the frame on some paper from the Radiant paper pad and cut it out I added some glass glitter and called it good! The little bread tag was gifted to me by my friend Kookie and it's stamped with the Cookie Monster sentiment, I love that one!
Supplies: Stamps - Sweet Stuff. Paper - Radiant
paper pad, yellow & red card stock, Neenah white. Ink - Ranger Distress Black Soot, Fired Brick, Vintage Photo and Copic markers. Acces. - ribbon, retired SU! eyelets, vintage glass glitter - Red Damask, bread tag. Tools - Zutter Round it All, (Cindy at StarLitStudio has these on sale now, LOVE this tool, you need to go check it out), slit punch, Crop-a-dile, tracing wheel, Nestie Curved Rectangle, Inkssentials Blending Tool.
My husband called me into the living room to see this, it never happens! Those 2 laying together sleeping in the cat scratcher tower. I guess they decided to like each other a little instead of fighting all the time! When I started taking the pictures it woke them up and Lily couldn't stop yawning, LOL!

I hope your day is a happy one, thanks for stopping by!

make a wish!

I played in the Crafty Secrets challenge over at SCS, this week the challenge was paper piecing!

That's a technique I'm always doing, so I had to play along! You can play along to if you want, just go over to the Crafty Secrets forum at Splitcoast Stampers here, when you up load your card make sure you put CSSC50 in the key words so everyone can see your card in this challenge.

I used the new Crafty Secrets Lucky Wishes stamp set that's coming out at CHA with several more new sets, I know you're going to love them all!

I was talking to Sandy Redburn, about this set and she said she thought it would be cute with the Coffee & Tea girls, she was right, dontcha think?? I paper pieced the fortune teller's coat and hat and the chickies dress with paper from the Radiant paper pad. I put some crystals on his hat and ring. I put some Peeled Paint Distress Stickles on the 4 leaf clover and some dazzling diamonds glitter on the crystal ball and stars by the sentiment.

I made the flower with my SU! flower punches and put a black button in the center. The coloring was done with my Copic markers, of course

who's your doggie?

Smiley from millan.net Good Wednesday mornin'!

Today I'm sharing a card and candy box. I used Pat the Dog and the Treemendous Love sets by Our Craft Lounge.
I thought the 2 sets would make a cute scene. The dog, fire hydrant, clouds and flowers are from the Pat the Dog set and the tree and grass are from the Treemendous Love set.

The patterned paper is more of the My Minds Eye Just Dreamy 2 , I

think the flowered and gingham papers are my faves! The candy box is a tin from SU!, it held the Build-a-brads. I covered it with the MME paper, I cut out 3 of the flowers from the paper, added some Martha Stewart ribbon and rick rack. I just love the sentiment on the card, Who's your doggie? *snort*
The heart Pat is holding is paper pieced and covered with Glossy Accents and sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds glitter. I put some red Stickles on the dots on the tree too. All the coloring is done with my Copic markers.

Better head out, thanks for stopping by!

Lucky Wishes!

Smiley from millan.net Ohhhh, here is a sneak peek of a new Crafty Secrets set called Lucky Wishes that will be coming out at CHA! How fun is this? I was so tickled when I saw this one, it's so unique and fun for guy cards I'm thinking! Sandy always finds the coolest vintage images, and then Cindy does her magic and wa-la, a one of a kind set!

I embossed the crystal ball with gold embossing powder and the twinkles inside the ball are embossed with Iridescent Ice, it's so sparkly IRL! The patterned paper is from the Radiant paper pad.

Lucky Wishes is a medium set with 22 fun stamps! I know you'll have fun with it!

I wish I could make it to CHA, that is something I really want to do, hopefully soon! Hmmm, maybe I should look in the crystal ball and see when *snort*

I hope y'all have a great Monday, thanks for stopping by!

home sweet home on new years!

Smiley from millan.netHappy 2009 everyone, can you believe it's 2009 already? I'm glad it's here, 2008 is done, yay, I'm looking forward to the new year!

I was watching the Today Show, and they had a video looking back at 2008, here. Does anyone know the name and/or artist of the last song on the video? I did all kinds of searches on iTunes and couldn't figure it out, I'm wanting to download it. If someone would let me know, I sure would appreciate it!

ETA - For those of you who want to know, the song is Our Lives by The Calling. Thanks to Debra for letting me know!!
I spent the day taking down my Christmas decorations and making blackeyed peas, hog jowl and cornbread. It's a tradition with my family and a lot of families in the south to have this on New Years day so you'll be prosperous in the new year, so we have to have this every year! Mmmmmmmmm!

Here's another card I made with the new Crafty Secrets Home Sweet Home stamp set. It's perfect for coloring! This is a night time image, see the owl sitting in the tree, isn't he cute? I put some glitter on the moon so it would shine. The row of flowers are a sweet little stamp that I just lined up across the card. I love acrylic stamps for that very reason, you can see what your doing and stamp without a lot of hassle!
The pattern paper is from the Pastel Paper Pad and I used my Copic's for the coloring.

Happy New Year, thanks for stopping by!
