number journal spread

 I L O V E after Christmas, Christmas decor sales, don't you?
There's just something about seeing 50%, 70 and 80% off, right?
Ahh, gold glitter everywhere!
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ok, so I go out to take pic's of my journal pages and I go to the barn deck, kneel down to get the shot and then I'm on my back, just kind of  kneeled over. While I was there I thought I'd get a pic of the pretty blue sky above me, HA!
Is that buds I see on the plum tree limbs?
I've been wanting to do a number page. I decided to search for a number quote to get me started. I found out number quotes are not that easy to find. After I found this one and used it, I should of searched song lyrics, I can think of a few lyrics with numbers.
 I started by tearing some Tim Holtz 8x8 collage paper in pieces and gluing it to the pages and inserts.
I cut some flowers with the Tim Holtz tattered florals die out of the burlap ribbon I got on sale in my after Christmas decor stash. The stems are pieces of vintage cloth measuring tape and I cut the leaves from a vintage Bingo card.
I started pulling out numbers, white backed stickers from Lowes, Tim grunge board numbers, the Tim Numeric stamp set (one of my fave sets) stamped with Archival jet black, red geranium, coffee and cornflower blue ink, metal number 7 covered with tissue tape and numbers remnant rubs.
I stamped and embossed the the frame behind the 7 with gold embossing powder and VersaMark ink. I backed that with a white and a gold doilie.
I made shadows around some of the numbers with Faber-Castell PITT big brush pens in dark sephia 175 and black 199.
Here's the quote:
Never worry about numbers
Help one person at a time
and always start with
the person nearest you.
Christmas garlands
I finished my garlands!
I've been enjoying the garlands I've been seeing on Pinterest and Instagram especially Christie Tomlinson's, she's the garland making queen! If you're on Instagram you really need to check her out!
I have a big pink McCoy planter on my desk that I use for a catch-all. Most of the stuff I used were extras I  already cut with dies or purchased and put in my planter.
It's always satisfying using up this and that in your work.
For this one I used burlap flags, a Tim Holtz tattered flower and pinecone greenery dies and a flower made from a tea stained coffee filter that I got at a flea market.
The flower and pinecones below are cut from the Tim Holtz Kraft Resist paper stash.
I made this one with the Tim Holtz snowflake rosette die and white cardstock, some glitter and buttons.
On this one I used Tim Holtz journaling tickets as the base - they're on sale right now :) pinecone and mini rosette dies, paper scraps, gesso, peeled paint Distress Stickles, Martha Stewart glitter and book paper punched with a scalloped circle punch and distressed with some Distress Gathered Twigs ink. and some mini pom-pom trim stapled on with my tiny attacher.
 I don't have a fireplace mantel, but, I do have a book shelf and I think it works!
Christmas ornament
I got the idea to use Tim's 8x8 Seasonal Paper Stash and Fragments to cover this cardboard ornament I got from Hobby Lobby.
First I painted the ornament with gesso
I glued the Fragments on the paper with Glossy Accents, cut around the Fragments and glued them on the ornament.
Next, I painted on the Glossy Accents with a paint brush between the Fragments and sprinkled silver glitter on.
I used my Tattered Pinecone die for the pinecones and greenery. I cut them out with paper from the Kraft Resist Paper Stash. I lightly sprayed them with Dylusions melted chocolate ink spray.
I used some of my vintage lace and tatting along with the pinecones and greenery to decorate the top. I adhered everything on top with my glue gun.
I took some close up pic's of each side outside in the natural light.
young love
On these pages I wanted to do image transfers with the pic's of my mom and dad.
Well, that went south pretty quick. I think the problem was the setting I used to print the pic's. They turned out all different colors when I rubbed the paper away.
It was my first attempt at this, but I love the idea and I'll be trying again!
I printed the pic's again on copy paper and glued them down over my first attempt.
 I framed the pages with Crafty Secrets alpha stickers, I think they're retired but you could use any stickers.
 Young love is in a song or song title, I don't know but, it popped in my head so I used it. My parents were pretty young in these pic's. Look at my dad's bold striped socks, so funny!
 I covered the inclusion with hearts I cut from the collage paper and trimmed around then.
all is calm
I wanted to use my gingerbread man cookie cutters and this is what I ended up with.
I've had the cookie cutters for awhile, I got them at my fave flea market/antiques store to use in my journal.
I had fun with these pages, I always do though.
I used a lot of paint, paper and rub on's.
The house, tree trunk, gingerbread men and clouds are hand cut.
The snowman and tree top are punches.
The sentiments are lines from Christmas songs.
After I took the pic's I realized I didn't put on my eyelets. I didn't put them on my last journal pages either so I went back and did that. I keep forgetting those!
Supplies: stamps - SU! speckled and rough edges alpha stamps. dylusions basic backgrounds.
paper - book print, donna downey art journal, echo park holly jolly Christmas 6x6 paper pad. ink - archical jet black, faber-castell light cobalt turquoise 154, deep scarlet red 219, light phthalo green 162 and dark sephia 175 pitt big brush pens. acces. - claudine hellmuth classic teal studio paint, gesso, tim holtz numbers remnant rubs, heidi swapp rub on's, eyelets. tools - dylusions let it snow 9x12 stencil, marvy scalloped punch, tim holtz bubble stencil, 1 1/2 and 1 1/4" circle punches, crop-a-dile. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
and the winner is.......
..... Sheri!
Congrats Sheri, you're the winner of my give-away!
Blogger Sheri said...
I think it is a great idea. In fact, I have often thought about how to run a "rent a stamp" store somewhere. Sometimes you buy a stamp and only can use it a very few times as it is specific, like Christmas card stamps. Once you have made them, you want to make something different the next year and then this years stamp sits and gathers dust. However, someone else could use it and pass it down from there.
I'll be contacting you shortly, Sheri!
I want to thank everyone for playing along.
I will be giving gently used stamps in my future give away's :)
I'm hoping to do these give away's more often, maybe in a few days, stay tuned!
bouquet canvas
Hi bloggers!
I decided to do a canvas.
I've been loving the canvases Christy Tomlinson does so the inspiration for this one came from her!
I covered the canvas with paper from the Prima Divine 6x6 pad. I went over that with Adirondack snow cap paint dabber and Claudine Helmuth classic teal, traditional tan, painterely pink and yellow pastel paints, I applied those here and there with my finger.
This is the first time I've used her paints and I have to say, I love them! They are so creamy and nice to work with. I got the urban mini paint set from Inspiration Emporium, I need them all!
I drew the vase on the back of a piece of the Divine paper, cut it out and adhered it to the canvas.  I painted over it with matte multi medium to make a non porous surface so when I did my shading I could move the ink from the pens with my finger. I did the shading with Faber-Castell big brush pens in cold grey 233, medium flesh 131, cadmium yellow 107, chromium green opaque174 and black199.
I used a bunch of rub ons from imaginise dream come true, which IE has on sale for $1 right now!! tim holtz remnant rubs numbers and Heidi Swapp.
I used Prima Divine flowers. I pinched the centers out of each one so my pic's would lay flush on the flower.
I cut the pics in squares to match the little squares in the vase.
I wrote some words on the canvas with Sakura Micron 08 black pen.
I hope you enjoy the canvas and are inspired to make one of your own!
I saw this on Pinterest and loved it.
I had been wanting to do something like this with my cigar boxes for awhile and this pushed me on to do it!
I have a huge collection of cigar boxes, mostly wooden ones of all different sizes. I made holes in them with my awl with is basically a short handled ice pick. I used some metal name plate thingy's and brads to attach them to the boxes. I stamped the words on some cardstock to put behind the plates, so I can change them if I need to. I glued down some of the torn paper on them with matte multi medium.
My Claudine Hellmuth mini paint bottles are in the top one :)
Have a great weekend, thanks for looking!
halloween handy tags journaled
Hello bloggers!
This is my last post before Halloween.
I've journaled my handy tags that I showed you here. You can get the supply list and how to's for the tags there.
I like to put my journaled tags in my Dylusions journal since it's a big journal.
I made a Distress spray with my shabby shutters reinker and water in a mini mister. I sprayed the journal page dried it and started using several stencils with Dylusions spray ink in black marble and melted chocolate. I used my Archival fern green ink pad with a cosmetic sponge and the burlap stencil. I used the melted chocolate and black marble sprays with the splatters and stripes stencils. I put apothecary remnant rubs here and there.
I was digging through some things and found these huge Prima flowers and leaves. I stamped the flower with the little number stamp from Wendy Vecchi's be inspired stamp set and Archival jet black ink. I attached the flower to a burlap flag along with a journaling ticket that I put tissue tape and vintage ribbon on. The x's are a Glitz large roller doodle stamp, fun for adding texture!
There are 3 stencils in this corner, the stripes, burlap and splatters, I love using stencils! The red drops are red pepper alcohol ink.
That's it, I hope you like the page!
Have a fun and s p o o k y Halloween!
