OCL Flyin' Birthday candy box & tag

Good day people! I've got a candy box and tag to share.
I bought a box of Hot Tamales at Walmart and thought I would cover it and make a matching tag for a little boy's birthday. I used the Flyin' Birthday stamp set from Our Craft Lounge. This is such a cute set for little boys birthdays or big boys and girls congrats cards like I made here.
I stamped the images, cut them out and popped them up on the tag with dimensionals. I added a silver brad to the plane propeller and 2 at the bottom of the tag. I stamped the scarf colored it with a red Copic and glued on Crafty Sparkly Fluff in Rockstar Red, cut it out and popped it up.

Supplies: Stamps - OCL Flyin' Birthday. Paper - GP white, Cosmo Cricket Get Happy. Ink - Ranger Distress Black Soot, Copic markers. Acces. - box of Hot Tamales, Sparkly Fluff in Rock Star Red, Crafty Sparkles in Lemon Drop Yellow (candle flame), Glossy Accents, big silver eyelet, silver brads, red twill, brown twine from Walmart. Tools - Crop-a-dile, hole punch.

New Crafty Secrets Postcard Kits!

Hi all! It's Halloween in July Smiley from millan.net

The Crafty Secrets DT got the go ahead from Sandy
Redburn to show sneak peeks of the new Vintage Postcard Kits that will debut at CHA! I can't wait for y'all to see them, they are FUN with so many possibilities! I used the Halloween kit to make a banner. The kits come with images, a stamp set and chipboard postcards and small chipboard pieces you can use.

I used paper from an old record book for my background paper and stamped them with some of the stamps that come with the Halloween Kit and colored them in with Copics.
I glittered up a chipboard b for the first banner piece and the big black buttons are the o's, it spells out boo!

I cut out some of the images and glued them on the chipboard.

Check out the Crafty Secrets blog to hear about all the new kits, there are 4 of them coming out and 4 coming out later. Sandy is having a give away, make sure you go to the blog and leave a comment for your chance to win! You can see more of the DT creations too!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Remember my toothache? Well, I went to the dreaded dentist (I really like everyone there, they baby me, cause I am a real baby when it comes to dental work) and I have to have TWO root canals, that's right, TWO! ugh. I'm just terrified about that, I've heard horror stories about root canals. But, my tooth is hurting so bad, it's just unreal. Thank goodness for pain meds. I'll be so glad when it's all over with!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I hope you have a great day, thanks for stopping by!

Crafty Secrets challenge time!

Smiley from millan.net
The Crafty Secrets DT girls are doing another challenge, we're all doing a tutorial for you! I decided to do a tutorial on the lace flower embellishments I've been using a lot lately. I put this one on top of an altered recipe box, it's on the handle of the box.

Here are the supplies I used: lace (this is from a flea market), white cotton string, ribbon, needle & thread, vintage button, E6000 (or other strong adhesive), silver spoon (another flea market find). Here is a before picture of the vintage file box, it's bigger than a regular recipe box, it holds the big index cards. My mom had this and I snatched it up!
For the lace flower, cut your lace 5 - 6", wide lace needs to be longer for the flower to gather nicely. Do a running stitch along the edge of the lace gathering it up as you go.
When you get to the end pull the thread and gather the lace, pulling as hard as you can with out breaking the thread. I use quilting thread, it's strong.Line up the 2 ends and stitch together, knot it and cut the thread.
Tie a bow in your ribbon and glue it on top of the lace flower. Thread the string through the button and tie it in a bow on the back of the button, glue that on top of the ribbon. I let this dry over night.I bent the spoon to form more of a handle and glued my lace flower embellishment on the spoon.
Here is a closeup of the button, I love the cut-outs in it!

I glued the spoon handle on top of the recipe box.
I covered the box with paper from the CS Radiant Paper Pad, I used Mod Podge to glue the paper on. I used the Crafty Secrets Creative Scraps (Garden, Domestic Goddess & Girlfriends), Tim Holtz style, using his Fragments. I glued a Fragment on the part of a Creative Scrap I wanted to use with Glossy Accents, let that dry, cut around the Fragment and glued it on the box lid. I put a Tim Holtz Keyhole in the center of the lid.

I used more Creative Scraps on the box, I mounted them on black card stock before I glued them on.
I threaded the buttons with the cotton thread and glued them on the box.I love the look of the Creative Scraps used this way!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Make sure you check out the other DT blogs below, they have some great tutorials to show you and Heidi has a give-away going on too!!
