Birdies at Home ~ Crafty Secrets

Good Morning!
I'm in a wonderful mood! I'm so excited to be going to the Great American Scrapbook Convention in Arlington, TX. next week! I'll be helping out in the Crafty Secrets booth and in Vicki's classes! Stop by and see me, if you can!
I'll be meeting my friend Tex at the airport in Dallas, Tex kindly invited me to stay with her and my friend Joy with be arriving later that night, I'm so excited to be seeing my friends and spending time with them!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here's a card I made with the new Birdies at Home stamp set by Crafty Secrets. The detail in this set is amazing, there are musical notes and words inside the swirly tree branches and the cages, WOW!
I used my Tim Holtz film strip die to cut the strip out of vanilla paper. I shabbied it up with Ranger Distress Black Soot ink. I layed the strip on a piece of vanilla paper and traced the inside of the film strip lightly with a pencil, I used that as a guide to where I'd be stamping the small birds. I adhered the film strip to my vanilla strip with the birds stamped on and then I added Crackle Accents.
After I cut the main image with the Spellbinders die I left it in place and used my old SU! stipple brush and pounced Ranger tumbled glass ink on the image.
This is a darker picture, I think it shows the crackle in the film strip better.
Supplies: Stamps - CS Birdies at Home. Paper - vanilla, CS Pastel Paper Pad. Ink - Ranger Distress Black Soot, Tumbled Glass, Faded Jeans, Copic markers. Acces. - Crafty Secrets Chipboard Die Cut Shapes, Ranger Crackle Accents, glitter, black pearl pin, Adorn-it's. Tools - Spellbinders Labels 4 die, Tim Holtz film strip die by Sizzix, Scor-Pal, tracing wheel, stipple brush, scalloped edge punch.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I got this last week at an antiques shop in Conway, Blue Ribbon Antiques. I've been wanting one forever, but, they were always out of my price range. I really don't know what it's called other than a paper rack, they had an extra roll of paper I got too, YAY! I think they used them in general stores to wrap up purchases, etc.?
I'll be using it for grandkids artwork.

I hope you have a great day, we just got a big rain here, a gully washer!

fortune teller ~ OCL

Good Evening!
I'm sitting here watching the Brookes & Dunn special, I've always liked them, I hate to see them breaking up, retiring, going their seperate ways whatever they're doing. I think I heard them say they were each going out on their own. Kinda sad, really.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've got a fortune teller to show you. Remember these, I spent many hours playing with these when I was little.
I used a piece of Martha Stewart cs, but, it would be much better to use pattern paper, it would be easier to work with. You need to make sure your paper is square before you start folding, I hope to show you a step by step on how to fold it soon. I stamped one of the flowers from the Fabulous Florals stamp set by Our Craft Lounge, 8 times and added the number rubons, then I punched them out with a circle punch and adhered them with foam dots.
Pick a number...Next, I used another flower stamp from the set and stamped it 8 times with my Ranger Distress inks, punched them out and adhered them.
Pick a color...
I cut some squares with my Spellbinders classic squares and cut them to fit inside. Then I picked out several sentiments and small images from various OCL stamp sets for the fortunes.
Supplies: Stamps - OCL Fabulous Florals and a bunch more sets for the fortunes. Paper - Martha Stewart cs pad from Walmart, GP white. Ink - Ranger Distress inks, Copic markers. Acces. - number rubons by SU!. Tools - Spellbinders classic squares, circle punch, blending tool, bone folder.
ATC's ~ Crafty Secrets and my weekend
Good Morning!
I have a couple of ATC's to show you and a few pic's of my weekend.
I made these with the new Crafty Secrets stamp set Art Studio. This set is perfect for the paper crafter. There are SO many great vintage stamps, I had so much fun creating with them!
I added ink to the card base with my Ranger Distress inks and a blending tool, then I stamped the word/paint brushes stamp over the Distress inks.
Then, I went to town adding embellishments and more images. I've had the metal corners for a loooong time. I got them on line at Bonnie's Best, I think it was? The ladies bracelet is a piece of a necklace I got at a flea market, it's plastic with rhinestones, I just snip off what I need. The heart ghost shape is covered with Glossy Accents and sprinkled with glitter.
Supplies: Stamps - Crafty Secrets Clear Art Stamps Art Studio. Paper - CS Radiant Paper Pad, confetti cream cardstock, pink crepe paper. Ink - Ranger Distress inks, Copic markers. Acces. - sticky lace, linen thread, brown twine, button, Heidi Swapp Ghost Shapes, t!m holtz idea-ology pieces, gold metal corners, Glossy Accents, glitter. Tools - HomePro LR tool for attaching the metal corners, Martha Stewart lace border punch, blending tool.
My little love.
he's tryin' out the 4 wheeler
I picked these up at a couple of flea markets Saturday. My kitchen has a lot of red and white checked stuff in it, my curtains, spoon rest, melamine plates (I got those in an antique shop in Branson, MO. I was giddy). I remember these coffee cups from long ago, they had names on them, you could pick out a cup with your name on it, although this doesn't have a name on it. I've decided I need a set of these to go in my kitchen. I think they would be cute on a mug tree sitting on my Hoosier.
Lifes a Picnic Pocket ~ Our Craft Lounge
Hi there!
Here we are in a new week, busy, busy, busy! I scheduled another epidural steroid shot....ugh...I must be nuts. You take them in a series of 3 though, 1 every 2 weeks...did I say ugh? Yeah, I know, they are helping me, but, still.
Smiley from millan.net
Today I'm showing you a card I made with the new Life's a Picnic stamp set by Our Craft Lounge. This is a CUTE set, love those little grinning ants!
I made a pocket card for a gift card holder. You can attach it to the pull out card by cutting small slits in diagonal corners to slip the gift card into. I thought a sweet treat gift card from Baskin Robbins or some other sweet treat establishment would be perfect!
I added Glossy Accents to the cherry for some shine.
My friend HB commented on how she mixed some Sparkly Fluff to get a color she needed, so, I gave it a try. The Appletini green was too bright for the distressed colors I used here so I mixed some Brown Sugar with the Appletini Green and got the perfect celery-ish green!
Supplies: Stamps - OCL Life's a Picnic. Paper - Confetti tan, red, & GP white cardstock & Cosmo Cricket Garden Variety paper. Ink - Ranger Distress Walnut Stain, Copic markers. Acces. - Appletini Green & Brown Sugar Sparkly Fluff, ribbon, Glossy Accents, button, brown twine. Tools - Scalloped edge, scalloped circle punches, small oval punch, tab punch, Round-it-all, tiny attacher, Spellbinders classic scalloped rectangles large, Scor-Pal, blending tool.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I turned around and saw that Bunchie took over my newspaper basket, when there is something new or different around, cats always have to check it out, she looks very happy!
I hope you have a great day, thanks for stopping by!

Material Girl ~ Crafty Secrets

I hope y'all had a Happy Mothers Day, my day is winding down and I'm thinking about the week ahead. I've been having some back pain for awhile now, several steroids and pain meds later, I had my first epidural steroid shot in my lower back somewhere around L 4 & 5.
Oh M Gee!! I knew when there was a nurse at my head and someone grabbed my feet, I was in big trouble! Yep, I was right, it hurt like you wouldn't believe. Dang, I got the shot in the hospital, you think they could knock me out! The shot cost over $2000, one shot, unreal. I have to have 2 more, ugh, thank goodness for insurance, I guess my 20% isn't too bad, pfffffft.

Ok, on to happier things like Crafty Secrets Clear Art Stamps!
This is a card I made with the new Material Girl set. Do you sew or no someone who sews or do you like to make little boxes and gifts? Then this IS the set for you, I adore it!
I had fun with this card, thinking about what sewing elements I could use on it. The pinking shears, tracing wheel, snaps and pieces of a sewing pattern.
I used my scalloped circle punch to make the flower, I just folded a piece of pattern and punched out the scallops. I used my tiny t!m stapler and stapled it in the center. Then I grabbed my Glimmer Mist and went to town! After I dried it I added the button.

I pleated a strip of pattern on a line of adhesive I put on the card and then I added the string of buttons. I cut out the dress form and the little card of thread and popped them up with foam dots.
Supplies: Stamps - Crafty Secrets Material Girl. Paper - vanilla, red, Cosmo Cricket Material Girl mini deck. Ink - Ranger Distress Walnut Stain, Copic markers. Acces. - snaps, pattern pieces, white string, buttons, Iridisent Gold Glimmer Mist. Tools - t!m holtz tiny attacher, tracing wheel, slit punch, word window punch, paper distresser, pinking shears, Scor-Pal.

Crafty Secrets National Scrapbook Day DT Challenge & WINNER!

Today's the day for the Crafty Secrets design team Scrapbook Day Challenge.
If you've been following along all week, you've probably commented on the DT blogs for a chance for the $50 gift certificate. Today the rest of the team is offering the certificate, and Sandy has more goodies up her sleeve! WOOHOO, more fun!
Sandy & Vicki challenged the team to make a card or project using a picture. I decided to use this picture of me and Terry taken several years ago. I bought an 8x8 canvas at Micheal's and altered it for a wall hanging.I used Glimmer Screens and Glimmer Mist on the canvas, that was fun, then I ended up covering most of it up...oh well, it was still fun! I used some of my vintage buttons to go around the edges of the canvas.
I made the flower with papers from the CS Pastel Paper Pad and Tim Holtz's new Tattered Flowers Die by Sizzix. I did some distressing and Glimmer Misting on it. The center silk rosette is from the new Crafty Secrets Vintage Bling Sandy will be carrying soon. I almost used the whole package on this canvas, there are so many fun pieces in it. She has some gorgeous lacy sticker strips coming out too, I used the gold foil leaves on this canvas. Vintage lace is along the bottom.
The sentiment is on the Romance Homespun Cotton Scraps. I attached it to an old linen patch like flower with tatting around it, so pretty. I put that on a large chipboard heart that I covered with some old sheet music. I covered the heart with Antique Linen Distress Stickles, LOVE that stuff!
This butterfly was in my CS Vintage Bling bag, I sprayed it with some Iridescent Gold Glimmer Mist.
Here's the Vintage Bling in the packaging, Sandy will be selling it retail at all of the shows she'll be attending, so remember to watch out for it when you go!
Be sure you check out the other DT girls blogs and see their challenge projects.

If you have been watching the news, we had tornadoes in AR. last night. I've heard of 1 fatality, she was our insured and there are several injuries and homes distroyed in the small community of Scotland. There was some damage here in Greers Ferry, we've just seen trees down around here close to Shiloh, I'm sure there's more. Please keep the families that were affected by this in your thoughts and prayers.

I hope you have a great weekend!
